Security and encryption
How can I be confident that the website and my account information are secure?
The privacy and security of your account information are very important to Plum. To protect your information our website uses the following security features:
- 128-bit encryption and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) version 2.0 protocol. These technologies provide the highest level of security and privacy when you access your account information, initiate online account transactions or send secure messages.
To access secure areas your browser must allow these technologies.
If you have a browser with 40-bit or 56-bit encryption, you can download a free upgrade to 128-bit encryption from most browser manufacturers.
- Secure areas of our website use cookies that terminate your access after extended periods of inactivity.
You share responsibility for the security of your personal account information on Plum's website. When you finish viewing your account information, you should log off from the site.
Also, you should never reveal your Member number or PIN to anyone. Your member number alone cannot be used to log on to our website. It must be used with your PIN number. Your Member number will be disabled after three unsuccessful PIN attempts. You will then need to contact Plum to have a new PIN issued.
If you suspect that someone knows your PIN, you should change it online. Simply:
- Log on using your Member number and PIN
- Click My details at the top of the screen
- Select the Change my PIN tab
- Follow the steps to change your PIN
