Plum upgrades Education and Advice with new appointments
2 June 2011
Plum Financial Services has strengthened the education and advice it offers to its corporate superannuation plan members with senior new appointments.
Tony Stewart has been appointed Head of Member Services for Plum and the MLC Group’s broader Corporate and Institutional Wealth division.
Tony has more than 15 years’ experience in financial services with a strong background across business strategy, product management, distribution, funds management and financial planning. He joined Plum more than two years ago as Head of Product & Strategy and, earlier, spent five years with MLC as Strategy & Development Manager for online wealth management. His previous experience includes senior roles at St Andrew’s Australia (HBOS Group) and AXA Australia.
In announcing the appointment, Plum’s Managing Director, Scott Hartley, who is also General Manager, Corporate & Institutional Wealth, said:
“Tony has a real passion for engaging and educating members about their retirement options and the strong results this can deliver. It is this philosophy which Plum has developed and grown over its 13 years delivering superannuation solutions to medium to large businesses.
“Tony will be driving the further advancements we are planning in member education to continue to empower our 189,000 plus members to take control of their finances to ensure they retire with adequate resources. Already, Plum corporate members contribute an average 15 per cent to their super, considerably more than the mandated 9 per cent. We can see more opportunities in the future to increase this education and advice in innovative ways.”
Tony recently visited the US-based Vanguard Group Inc., the world’s second largest mutual fund manager and Plum’s strategic alliance partner, to tap into their expertise in this area.
“Vanguard has an enviable reputation in terms of member engagement and education and I am looking forward to bringing some of their international expertise to Plum to further strengthen our already strong performance in this area,” Tony said.
“So many changes are happening in superannuation and these, together with our ageing population, present many opportunities to support our members to plan for a successful retirement.”
Tony’s appointment complements the recent appointment of a number of new team members in Plum’s Education team focussed on working with clients to develop strategies to engage their employees with their superannuation. They are Reuven Blecher, Chris Davis-Slade, Robert Fernandez, Tina Kletzmayr and Martina Taylor.
